Things To Do With Kids In Destin, Florida

There are countless things kids can do in Destin, Florida. The harbor and beaches in this coastal town are fabulous and that’s why it was my childhood vacation spot and an annual family gathering place.  Every moment we spent in Destin was always fun to us. From visiting yummy restaurants to playing in the Gulf of Mexico to doing the tourist rounds for the fun activities to walking to Alvin’s Island and other beach shops, Destin was so much fun! If you are planning to move to Destin or visit Destin this fall, it will interest you to know that that there is always something to do with your kids. Here are the things that we do with the kids when family comes to town:

Beach it

Obviously, Destin’s beaches are the lure for vacationers and people moving here.  Destin has beautiful white sand and several beachfront eateries.  The emerald green waters contrast the sugary white sands beautifully and Destin’s beaches will make it difficult to want to do anything else.

Pirate Cruise

Honestly, is there anything else more fun that this for a kid?   Destin’s famous Buccaneer Pirate Cruise offers an exciting avenue for kids to experience some high seas adventures. At first, we weren’t sure how this was going to go over with the kids and worried that it would be a bust and we’d be stuck at sea with cranky kids but it is the highlight for them now.

Kids engage themselves in pirate-inspired activities such treasure hunts, face painting, sword fights, deck swabbing, and water gun battles. Here, kids don’t have to feel bored! The professional staff is available to engage them and keep them excited about the experience.

Water Park

When you’ve hit the beach and you want to up the bar, what do you do?  Hit up the water park!  Big Kahuna’s was a family favorite when I was younger and it is still a standing go-to in Destin.  It has 40 attractions including slides, pools, sunbathing areas.

Fun and Games

Games, prizes, pizza, ice cream, and fun, fun, fun!  Fat Daddy’s Arcade is a great place for indoor fun, whether you have already hit the beach or you are looking for a rainy day activity.  There are plenty of games to play and prizes to choose from.  Additionally, it is right next to Fudpuckers which is very fun restaurant where you can feed live alligators and eat great food.

Eat Where You Bowl

Uncle Bucks has only been around for a few years so it wasn’t there for me to enjoy as a kid but it is a hit!  Here you will enjoy some great food and bowling an the atmosphere is so much fun!
